Follow Friday : What are you most thankful for (in the blogging world)?

Prompt of the week
What are you most thankful for (in the blogging world)?

Of course, thankful for bloggers and authors/publishers!

About what Alison said regarding the struggle of a long time blogger... I feel it ALL THE TIME! It's becoming a real struggle for me to keep posting (reviews). YES, losing your old blogger buddies whom you used to visit and exchange ideas with...aww it can be depressing.

Been blogging since 2008 (Multiply to Blogger) and I've picked up some other hobbies like gardening, scrap booking, and lately, sewing (yikes still a beginner). Aside from that,  kids are now both in school and they make me crazy busy with their assignment and projects. Before, I was up around 4 in the morning reading and blog hopping but now it's because of school stuff. Sooo... how about you?

Book Blogger Hop

This week's hop:
Q - Are the giveaways on your blog publisher-sponsored giveaways or giveaways of your own books? (Silver's Reviews)

A -  From the authors and publishers. Except for one time the publisher sent me two copies by mistake so I hosted a giveaway for that book, shipping expenses on me.

As for my own books, I give my books to friends. Oh well, they are actually 'borrowing' but mostly, I never get them back lol.

How much will Julian sacrifice to find the truth?

Julian Barnes makes a bet with fate: if he can drive through the intersection without stopping, it will be a sign that he won’t lose Julia, the woman he loves.

But instead Julian wakes up in a hospital, his body shattered from a car accident he can’t remember. The prominent neurosurgeon who broadsided him swears his light was green. An eyewitness disagrees. A woman is dead, and the surgeon is accused of manslaughter.

A stranger warns Julian that if his memory returns and he tells anyone what really happened, Julia will die, too.

What don’t they want him to remember? Julian knows he got in the car an hour before the accident, on his way to see Julia. But then…nothing.

Why was he driving away from Julia’s apartment when the car hit him?

What did he see just before the impact?

Julian bears the weight of not knowing. His quest will take him to places he never expected...

This week's hop:
Q - When you settle in for the night with a good book, do you read until you can't stay awake or simply have a nightly page goal? (Silver's Reviews)

A -  If it's a really good book, I could never put it down even if I need to be up early. Happened a few times, slept only an hour then went to work with overtime. This is actually  the very one thing my husband hates the most. He rarely gets angry but if  he caught me doing this, I'd get a tongue-lashing for a whole week.

Kindle on Discount ($0.99): The Duke's Ever Burning Passion by Charlotte Stone

The Duke's Ever Burning Passion
by Charlotte Stone

Are second chances truly possible?
The Duke of Sermont, Shep, has spent every summer since childhood at Pritchford Place... with his best friend's sister. Lady Julia Frederickson.
As they grew, their relationship grew into something else...
Love.
Writing letters back and forth to one another and making plans has been a part of them...
That is ... until Shep did something that broke her heart - he married someone else.
Since then...
She has spent her life wearing a mask.
She vows to never let anyone know how much Shep meant to her.
When Shep is widowed and comes to stay at Pritchford Place, just like old times, they antagonize one another as usual.
Is it because they hate one another? Or... because they cannot stay away from one another?
Who cares if he thinks she is the Ice Queen- cold, cruel and unfeeling?
Julia knows who she is really is, even if Shep continually misunderstands her.

"A man who loves me? A man whom I love? A family? It is all I have ever really wanted," she said.
"I never knew that about you," he whispered as he turned to look out the window.
"I am beginning to think you did not know me at all."

But is it too late for Shep to realize he made a terrible mistake all those years ago?
Can Julia forgive Shep for breaking her heart?
What about another suitor who will get in his way?

My thoughts:

This was another meh from the Colorado Mountain series.

The bad:

1. Most men in the series, have the same voice and (3-word-)dialogue. I know, I know, they are supposed to be like that since they are from one place but really, there's no distinction at all.
2. Justice Lonesome and the nickname, Jus or Jussy --- *long sigh*.
3. Romance felt forced - just like with Jagged and Kaleidoscope.

The good:

1. I was gonna say catching up with the Colorado gang. It's just that I realized now I'd prefer not to add any memories from this book.

About the book:

Justice Lonesome has enjoyed a life of bounty.

Even so, she’s inherited the curse of the Lonesome. A poet’s soul. Which means she’s still searching for something. Searching for peace. Searching for the less…that’s more.

And when the foundation of her life is pulled out from under her, grieving, she goes to the mountains to find her oasis. She hits Carnal, Colorado and decides to stay.

Deke Hightower lost everything at the age of two. He lost it again at fifteen. His life has not been about bounty. It’s been about learning to live with less, because there’s no way to get more.

Deke’s also watched all his friends go down to the women who gave them what they needed. He wants that for himself. But he knows that search isn’t going to be easy because he’s a rider. His home is the road. That’s the only place he can breathe. And the woman who takes her place at his side has to do it sitting on the back of his bike.

When Deke meets Justice, he knows she’s not that woman. She’s cute. She’s sweet. And she’s into him, but she’s got it all and Deke knows he won’t fit into that. So he holds her at arm’s length. Establishes boundaries. And Justice will take it because she wants Deke any way he’ll let her have him.

But when Justice finds herself a pawn in a dangerous game, Deke makes a decision.

When he does, he has no idea he’s just opened himself up to bounty.
