Eclipse Clip "Doesn't He Own A Shirt"

Love this scene.

Twilight Saga : Eclipse (Movie)

Based on Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆

Well I know I've been shouting to the world that I was so disappointed with New Moon that I promised myself not to expect much with the next Twilight movies (Eclipse and Breaking Dawn). I even told my friends I won't be watching Eclipse on its first day.

Guess what? I just ate my words. Before any of you judge me, I had good reasons for watching this the first day. We had to go to my mom's place and since it's a holiday, me and my husband decided to watch it. Now the reason is clear, here's what I have to say.

It was an excellent follow up on the New Moon movie. Thanks to the new director David Slade. Eclipse was my 2nd favorite out of all the 4 books (2nd to Twilight). At first I had no expectations on the movie but after knowing they changed the director and it's David Slade (director of 30 days of nights), it was like "hmm might be good".

Okay the review. This time, i felt really satisfied with the movie. You can compare the book with the movie because Mr. Slade pretty much followed the story and even used the dialogue in the book for this movie. It was really like flipping the pages and the characters were acting in front of you. The acting was pretty good too (except for Kristen Stewart - no hope for that). The action was better than the last one. Wolves vs Vampires, yeah good fighting scenes. I love that.

The movie even had funny moments, Edward vs Jacod. It was really entertaining to watch those two fight for Bella (but it was really irritating to see you Kristen, really...) I saw in the reviews somebody wished Edward to eat you and Jacob to tear your limbs out haha

Okay lets move on to the Cullens, whew! Love this family especially Emmett and Alice. I love the scene where Jasper was teaching his family members how to fight the newborn army. Oh I remember, i love to see the chess game of Alice and Edward... I really love Alice!

What else? It wasn't cheesy like New Moon. The Quilette's story, it was great and yeah also the story of Jasper and Rosalie! But then I thought it would be better if they had Alice and Emmett's story too! (might too much to ask?)

Overall, it was the best of all the Twilight movies.

My thoughts:

The movie was based on a book by Rick Riordan. I have seen a lot of bad reviews on this movie but as someone who has not read the books, I'd say it's a good one. Casting looks fine to me and even the acting. Special effects were pretty good. The movie even had big stars on it, Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean and Uma Thurman? See?

For me, I definitely enjoyed watching it and may read the books one of these days.

About the movie:

"Trouble-prone Percy Jackson is having problems in high school - but that's the least of his challenges. It's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus seem to have walked out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology texts and into his life. Percy has learned that his real father is Poseidon, god of the sea, which means Percy is a demigod - half human, half god. At the same time, the powerful gods on Olympus are feuding, which could launch a war enveloping our entire planet.

Now, Percy must prepare for the adventure of a lifetime, and the stakes couldn't be higher.

With ominous storm clouds brewing over Earth and his own life now in peril, Percy travels to a special enclave called Camp Half Blood, where he trains to harness his newly discovered powers and prevent a devastating war among the gods. There, Percy meets two fellow demigods - the warrior Annabeth, who is searching for her mother, the goddess Athena; and his friend and protector, Grover, who is actually a brave but untested satyr.

Grover and Annabeth then join Percy on an incredible transcontinental odyssey that takes them six hundred stories above New York City (the portal to Mount Olympus) and to the iconic Hollywood sign, under which burn the fires of the Underworld. At journey's end rests the fate of the world - and the life of Percy's mother Sally, whom Percy must rescue from the depths of Hell itself.

Shutter Island Movie

★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

The movie was based on a novel by Dennis Lehane. I've seen a lot of good reviews on the book but i hated the movie.

I waited, waited and waited, it was a boring movie. I don't actually have the patience to watch a not-so-good movie but this time, I had given it chances but it wasn't til the last 20 minutes that the movie got interesting. I don't know if it's Leonardo Di Caprio's acting or the whole movie.

Okay - just adding some more comments . . . hubby slept after 30 minutes of watching the movie. . .

Two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island's fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.

I Am Legend Movie

★ ★ ★ ★ ☆

If not for the ending - i would rate it as 5 stars. It was good, i recommend this movie to all zombie-addict peeps.

I found this site - they have uploaded the original ending of the movie. See it for yourself.

I liked the original ending.

I also found out that this movie was based on a book written by Matthew Matheson. From the reviews, they said the book was better than the movie. I'll check it out one of these days... :)

Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable and manmade. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City, and maybe the world. But he is not alone. He is surrounded by "the Infected"-victims of the plague who have mutated into carnivorous beings who can only exist in the dark and who will devour or infect anyone or anything in their path. For three years, Neville has spent his days scavenging for food and supplies and faithfully sending out radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. All the while, the Infected lurk in the shadows, watching Neville's every move, waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But his blood is also what The Infected hunt, and Neville knows he is outnumbered and quickly running out of time.

Movie and Book Review: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Director: Peter Jackson
Stars: Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom

My thoughts:

Based on the novels by JRR Tolkien, the films directed by Peter Jackson.

Set in a fictional world Middle-earth, the hobbit Frodo and his friends set on a mission to destroy the One ring and this also means the end of its maker, the Dark Lord Sauron.

The movies and the books were amazingly awesome! The best trilogy movie-book ever. No other books turned into movies can ever replace these in my heart. The movies were perfect for me. Well I first watched the Fellowship of the Rings before I bought all three books. Reading the books were just a bonus because Peter Jackson almost followed the storyline as told in the original book.

There were changes in the movies, but it didn't matter because I fell in love with all of the characters. The acting was superb. The places they used to shoot the Shire and Rivendell were exactly what I had in mind. I also loved the sound editing, music and visual effects.

As for the books, I love everything about the books. The history of Middle-earth was perfect. JRR Tolkien created characters that made the books interesting and the maps! Who would have thought that by creating these maps for the whole story would be a joy to the readers!

Definitely worth reading . . .worth watching . . . .

The Fellowship of the Ring
The dark, fearsome Ringwraights were searching for a hobbit. Frodo Baggins knew they were seeking him and the Ring he bore - the Ring of Power that would enable evil Sauron to destroy all that was good in Middle-earth. Now it is up to Frodo and his faithful servant, Sam, with a small band of companions, to carry the Ring to the one place it could be destroyed - Mount Doom, in the very center of Sauron's dark kingdom.

Two Towers
The Fellowship was scattered. Some were bracing hopelessly for war against the ancient evil Sauron. Some were contending with the treachery of the wizard SAruman. Only Frodo and Sam were left to take the accursed Ring of Power to be destroyed in Mordor - the dark Kingdom where SAuron was supreme. Their guide was Gollum, deceitful and lust-filled, sale to the corruption of the Ring.

Return of the King
While the evil might of the Dark Lord Sauron swarmed out to conquer all Middle-earth, Frodo and Sam struggled deep into Mordor, seat of SAuron's power. To defeat the Dark Lord, the accursed Ring of Power had to be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom. But the way was impossibly hard, and Frodo was weakening. Weighed down by the compulsion of the Ring, he began finally to despair.

My thoughts:

I heard the original was better than the remake but since I have yet to watch the original one, this review is book vs 2010 movie.

Okay first up - the special effects are really good, same with the actors, acting was pretty good. If you have not read the book. you'd say it was an awesome movie. yes I have to agree with that. But since I have read Perseus' story, here's what I have to say.

What I was not happy about was the story line of this movie. They changed the whole story. Now if you are a big fan of Greek mythology like me, you'd be confused on this movie. I don't wanna give away the whole thing, I'll make a separate one - the difference of the book and the 2010 movie. Let's just say that in the book, it was all about Perseus life with his mother Danae (which by the way never died but in the movie, when they opened the chest, she's already dead) and his love for Andromeda. In this one Perseus was not in love with Andromeda and it was all about revenge to the gods and to his father Zeus. In my book - Io was not even mentioned in the story. Did Hermes and Athena appear in the movie? I saw a sandal or was that a shoe? In the book Hermes gave Perseus a winged sandals.

Like what others are saying who have read the book, it was such a disappointment. Any highschool student would be confused on this one. And my 3rd year HS teacher would not be so happy with this! I remember, she got me hooked on Greek Mythology. I can't believe she remembers all the names and she's never confused with them. Well my favorite story in Edith Hamilton's book was the Trojan war (in the movie Troy). I'd like to do a review on that one too one of these days.

Okay, going back to Clash of the Titans, overall - it's just a 3-star for me.

One last thing before I forgot - i don't understand why the title of the movie is Clash of the Titans? Uhm if I remember it right, Zeus and Hades are Olympians. They were called Olympians because their home is Olympus and Titans were the fathers of the Olympians. So I guess I have to research the reason for that . . .

About the movie:

The ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus is helpless to save his family from Hades, vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.
