The Ghost of Christmas Past is my first Christmas read and certainly gave me lovely feeling about the holidays. This is a light, quick and enjoyable read which will make readers' Christmas extra special!

My thoughts:

This was another meh from the Colorado Mountain series. 

The bad: 

1. Most men in the series, have the same voice and (3-word-)dialogue. I know, I know, they are supposed to be like that since they are from one place but really, there's no distinction at all.  
2. Justice Lonesome and the nickname, Jus or Jussy --- *long sigh*.
3. Romance felt forced - just like with Jagged and Kaleidoscope. 

The good:

1. I was gonna say catching up with the Colorado gang. It's just that I realized now I'd prefer not to add any memories from this book.

My thoughts:

I enjoyed reading Brock's and Tessa's story but no wow moments like the other three books in this series. Dream man hotness meter is just okay . One issue that annoyed me big time is the complex family drama. I read books like this because  I wanted to have relaxing 'me' time. I didn't know that drama could tire me I slept without eating. I woke up with a headache reading some more then gave up.

My thoughts: 

*Sigh, deep sigh* This just didn't work for me. When the first 10 chapters were released last year, it seemed so good. I liked everyone and really thought this would be the best RM book after Succubus and VA. When this came out .... after re-reading the initial chapters, it suddenly felt meh. I was constantly bored, I struggled understanding the 'new' world / society RM created. I don't even get why the main character would runaway from an arrange marriage only to go to a court known for arrange marriages! Hmm, I just realized I don't remember the main character's real name. Yikes! If you are buying because it's RM's, sorry I wouldn't recommend this. Give it a pass.

My thoughts:

First Frost is a follow-up book to the Garden Spells.

Bay is now 15 years old and is going through a Waverly transition which she seems to be loving and hating at the same time. Like everyone in the family, she inherited a distinct magical talent, knowing things/person where they belong. Knowing Josh is her HEA, it created a huge problem as Josh is the son of her mom's first love and first real heartbreak.

Like the first book, First Frost is beautifully written. The book is so enchanting that I find myself reading it like how Georgina Kincaid reads Seth's books (reading a few pages each day). I didn't want this to be over! My favorite character in the series is Evanelle. My heart bled upon knowing her life story. As for the mysterious stranger, it was a disappointment. I found that part dull and felt cheated. I was kind of hoping something nice to come out of it but it just felt flat. Still, if you are looking for a nice, heartwarming and encouraging story, you might want to pick-up this book.

My thoughts:

Hmm. Rating this one is pretty hard and confusing for me. I liked the story but often, I was annoyed with the immaturity of all the characters here. They were all in their 30's and yet they're acting as if they were teenagers experiencing life problems for the first time. 

Hadley and I didn't get along during the first half of the story. I was just too displeased with how she handled things with Finn. Past the last quarter, I began to like her. I was often moved to tears just thinking about her dreams and future which she knew too well they were different with Fin's.  

I'm downloading the second book, I want to see which Hadley would choose: love (stay with Fin but be unhappy forever) or dreams (leave Fin and wait for the right man to fulfill her dreams).

This, along with the second book, sat in my shelf for almost a year! I can't believe it took me so long to read this. Won the series thru a paperback giveaway. With the life issues, I just didn't have time and energy to start new books for months. Oh I'm highly pleased to have finally read Garden Spells.

I so love the magical element here, love the Waverly world and actually the whole uncanny town! Every character's story is fascinating. The kind that will make you feel hopeful and inspired. 

A confession - read this twice. The second one was when I started First Frost (book #2) weeks ago. And I just want to read this again! Definitely a book I highly recommend. I guarantee you, your money would be well-spent on this.

My thoughts:

This I got a free Kindle copy (not a review request). I liked both the main characters, plot - oh the whole story. I'm just disappointed in the ending of this book #1 (volumes 1-3). The secrets were kept far too long which made me extremely bored AND tired. I definitely want to read book #2 (paid) to know this something being kept unknown, but right now, I just want to stop and move on to other books.

I love second-chance romances, immediately purchased this without reading the whole synopsis. The story is sweet and heartwarming. I liked that the author wove a realistic relationship between husband and wife. The reconciliation with their newfound faith feels so right. Looking forward to reading Ms. Hanks other books in this series.

My thoughts:

This is my first from the author and I'm disappointed. The world building is well-written the first few chapters with intriguing characters. 

My excitement flew out the window as soon as the characters talk. The assassins talk and think like teenagers and I find some dialogue cheesy:

"Three minutes?" Syn growled. "I hate you, I really really hate you".

Syn, one of the toughest assassins, uses the word hate. I don't think assassins would say that to anyone.  Also, I was annoyed with the heroine's constant use of the word 'girl': 

"He's an assasin, girl. You know they're not right in the head. None of them."

"Oh my God, girl! He is the hottest thing on two legs."

Girl? This is not the kind of word one would use in a planet, full of savage people and assassins. Who uses that word on Earth? Kids, teens, and adults trying to look cute! 

The skillful world-building ended after the assassins went planet-hopping. I started flipping back the pages to constantly remind myself of their current location.  The hero is a broken man, I get it but there's too much angst, it eventually bored me. I actually saw this through the end thinking it would get better but it didn't. I don't even remember anything now aside from my written notes.

My thoughts:

DNF. The plot and characters are very similar to The Hook Up. I just don't like reading books with the same storyline. Also, I didn't like the hero's use of the word Legs referring to the heroine.

My thoughts:

Just what I needed on a busy week. A very sweet, light and quick read about  unconditional love between best friends. Loved the character's individual genuine voice. 

This was tagged as romantic comedy. Yes there's humor but J&G is actually more of a serious family drama. The romance part felt rushed, predictable at times and the ending - unrealistic. But really, I still enjoyed reading the story despite all that (love best friend romance!).

My thoughts:

Liked the first half of the story. I thought Jenny and Kyle looked a cute couple bantering from dawn til evening. Loved that part. Then it became annoying as I realize the hero is a manipulative bastard. The kind of cop you'd want to be killed in duty! He's rarely shown a soft side, always intimidating the heroine with a few 'trying to woo scenes'. I decided to stop reading when the crime story became a love and lust story. Jenny is a widow, for only a year, yet she's acting as if she never had a dead husband!
