My thoughts:

Ever can see auras, hear people's thoughts and know a person's life story by touch. She notices Damen, the Immortal, because he's different. He doesn't have an aura, no thoughts she can hear. Let's see, Edward Cullen (Twilight) can hear people's thoughts and like Ever, he's attracted to Bella because he can't hear her. How about Sookie Stackhouse of the Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris? Sookie has also this ability to hear people's thoughts and she likes to be with Bill Compton because of the same reason, she can't hear him.  I was even reminded of the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead where Lissa and Adrian can see people auras too.  I don't really like to compare but when I first read about Ever's ability, I instantly disliked the book. Everything about the book seems the same with every book I read in the past.

I never liked all the characters except maybe for Riley, Ever's dead sister. Riley made the book a bit interesting. Ever and Damen, never truly connected with them. All other supporting characters are too ordinary for my liking.

There is a shocking revelation that made the book a page turner though I was annoyed that the author waited until the last pages of the book before everything is revealed.

Overall, everything seemed unoriginal from plot/storyline to characters. Not a book I would recommend to readers looking for a good series to start.

About the book:

Since a horrible accident claimed the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever can see auras, hear people’s thoughts, and know a person’s life story by touch.   Going out of her way to shield herself from human contact to suppress her abilities has branded her as a freak at her new high school—but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste . . .

Ever sees Damen and feels an instant recognition.  He is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy, and he holds many secrets.  Damen is able to make things appear and disappear, he always seems to know what she’s thinking—and he’s the only one who can silence the noise and the random energy in her head.  She doesn’t know who he really is—or what he is.  Damen equal parts light and darkness, and he belongs to an enchanted new world where no one ever dies.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that didn't really love this series. I read the first two, but after that I decided I couldn't go any further. Guess it just wasn't for me.

I'm now following you. I'd love a follow back!
