My thoughts:

Yay, finally! Took forever to be available in the Philippines. Soo, how long was it when this series ended? Not counting the spin-off, been waiting for this for six long years!! Wow. The stories are sooo good, so amazing that I was in heaven for weeks ;) I am actually re-reading the books (#2/12), oh I am still in love with VA. There's nothing like it. And the cover, so beautiful!

I thank Richelle Mead for writing VA, wish she'll revisit and write some more. If you loved VA, I'm pretty sure you'll fall in love with the series again!

Vampire Academy on Dimitri Belikov's POV

Just sharin' Vampire Academy's first chapter in DIMITRI BELIKOV'S POIN T OF VIEW

Read this last week and still not over my Dimka. Although Richelle Mead has been very clear on NOT writing anything in Dimitri's POV after this, I am still hoping she will, I can wait forever, you know. I can and I will! That is how I love VA so muchhhy.

Enjoy!

THE MEETING

 “Dimitri!”

I turned instantly at the sound of my name, shooting a glare at the guardian approaching in the darkness.  What was he thinking?  Everyone out here tonight knew how essential secrecy was.  It didn’t matter that he was young and simply excited about his first big mission.  We had no room for errors, not when this was the only break we’d had in over a year.  Realizing his mistake, he grew apologetic, though not nearly enough.

“Sorry.” He dropped his voice to a stage whisper and tapped his ear.  “Headset’s not working.  We checked the house, and they’re already gone.  They must have had warning, maybe a perimeter of spies on the streets.”  As his excitement returned, the young guardian—Laurence—began speaking rapidly.  “I was thinking about it.  They probably have a whole network of people working with them!  It makes sense, right?  How else have they managed to stay ahead of us for so long?  There’s no telling how deep this conspiracy goes!  We might be facing an army tonight!”

I said nothing and showed nothing as I mulled over his words.  It was something of a mystery how a couple of teenage girls had managed to escape detection for two years, especially when one of them was a privileged Moroi princess and the other a delinquent dhampir with a disciplinary file so long that it broke school records.  When I’d joined the teaching staff of St. Vladimir’s last year and learned of the princess’s case, I’d honestly been surprised the girls hadn’t slipped up sooner.  Being in league with others might explain how they’d remained hidden …and yet, in all our data gathering, we’d never once had even the slightest hint that they had one accomplice, let alone “a whole network” or “army.”

My silence made Laurence nervous, and he no longer smiled.  “It’s irrelevant now,” I told him.  “And there’s no point jumping to conclusions when—”

“Dimitri?”  A female voice crackled in my earpiece.  “We’ve got visuals on them.  They’re approaching the intersection of Brown and Boudreaux, from the north.”

Without another word to Laurence, I turned and headed toward the streets indicated.  I heard him running after me, but his stride was shorter, and he couldn’t quite keep up.  I tried to force calm as my heart rate increased, but it was difficult.  This was it.  This was it.  We might finally have her: Vasilisa Dragomir, the missing princess, last of her line.  Although I knew all guardian work was honorable—including the instruction of future guardians—part of me had longed for something more at St. Vladimir’s.  When I’d learned about the Dragomir princess and how she’d escaped the school, I’d made finding her a personal project, pushing leads that others had said were hopeless.

Me?  I didn’t believe in hopeless.

I slowed my pace as the intersection neared, allowing Laurence to catch up.  A quick scan revealed the dark shapes of other guardians lurking in shadows and behind objects.  This was the spot they’d chosen for the interception.  Quickly, I stepped off the road and hid in the cover of a tree, urging Laurence to do the same with a jerk of my head.  We didn’t have to wait long.  As I peered around the tree’s edge, I saw two female figures approaching, one practically dragging the other along.  At first, I assumed it must be the stronger dhampir helping the princess, but as they grew closer, their heights and builds revealed that it was exactly the opposite.

I had no time to ponder this oddity.  When they were about six feet from me, I quickly stepped out from the tree and blocked their path.  They came to a halt, and whatever weaknesses the dhampir girl had now vanished.  She grabbed the princess roughly by the arm and jerked her back, so that the dhampir’s own body served as a shield keeping me away.  Around us, other guardians fanned out, taking defensive positions but not advancing without my command.  The dhampir girl’s dark eyes made note of them, but she kept her attention focused squarely on me.

I didn’t entirely know what to expect from her, maybe that she’d try to run away or beg for her freedom.  Instead, she shifted into an even more defensive position in front of the princess and spoke in a voice that was barely more than a growl: “Leave her alone.  Don’t touch her.”

The girl was hopelessly outmatched yet still defiant, as though I were the one at a disadvantage.  In moments like these, I was glad my old instructors in Russia had grilled me into concealing my feelings—because I was surprised.  Very surprised.  And as I took this dhampir girl in, I suddenly understood with perfect clarity how they’d eluded us for so long.  A network of accomplices?  An army?  Laurence was a fool.  The princess didn’t need a network or army, not when she had this protector.

Rose Hathaway.

My thoughts:

OMG. O.M.G.

Vampire Academy series has just ended. *breathe in, breathe out*

I have been waiting for this book for months and I was sooo SOOO sooo excited to get my copy of LS. And yes, I got mine the first day of its release, December 7. I sat for an hour pretending to work. OMG. I couldn't stop looking at it. I was at work! I so wanted to read it but I couldn't. Around lunch time, I picked up the book and finally decided to read a chapter. OMG. I couldn't stop. I just couldn't stop. I wanna go home! My husband didn't understand me, he couldn't believe that I was this addicted to reading this book.

Okay - here's my review. I will try to write a review without spoilers.

We all know that Rose would be escaping her cell and her friends would help her. I was surprised with what happened in page 52. That and what happened next, truly I didn't expect those to happen. I love it! How Rose escaped Court? Wow, that's really fantastic.

Now, if you remember the teaser trailers, there was one that made me laugh so hard. Watch it HERE.

I'm sure no one has ever guessed it right. My guess was not even close to what was written in the book. I'm sure if Richelle Mead read what I wrote in that teaser trailer, she's now laughing at me. I guessed that Adrian is Dimitri's brother!

Who killed the queen?

I knew it has to be "her" from the clue in the teaser trailer: "Love and Loyalty run deeper than blood"

How Rose knew it, the author did great with the plot. It was an action-packed book. I'm so in love with all of the characters, even those minor characters. This book series wouldn't be the same without them.

Reading  page 519 definitely broke my heart. I knew it was going to happen, but hoped it didn't happen like that, I felt bad for _____kov. I love how Richelle Mead made a good "love triangle story", so satisfied with the happy ending - Rose and  _____kov. *see no spoilers lol*

I love VA because it wasn't just about romance and cheezy lines. It's about about friendship and responsibilities, love and loyalty. The romance in this book was just a bonus to the readers. Without it, many readers will agree with me that they would still read VA because of the great story line.

Overall, the final book was awesome. I'm so happy to read the last book but sooo sad that it has to end. It was a great conclusion to the series. I mean for Rose's story. If there's no spin-off series, I don't know what I'll do with my life. Seriously, it was soo great that I'm not sure if I'll find a new series to love the way I love this (and my Lord of the Rings, of course).

This series is highly recommended. Sooo great, exciting and excellent written. You will not be disappointed. I promise YOU! Now - the spin-off series will be released in August 2011. Who's with me?

About the book

"Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules.

She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir Princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardian to come.

Now the law has finally caught up with Rose- for a crime she didn’t even commit. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She’ll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.

But the clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back… and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your life is about saving others, who will save you?" - Goodreads

Last Sacrifice coverart

I got this from one of the forums in Richelle Mead's FB fan page and goodreads.com. I'm not sure if this is the coverart Penguin will use for the last book of the Vampire Academy series.

Is that Lissa? I'm color blind... haha I'm not sure if it's brown hair or pale blond hair?

I heard from one of the VA fans Richelle Mead (but not confirmed from her blog) said in one of her interviews that someone will die in book 6. Though one thing for sure, it's not Rose and Sydney as the spin-off series will have Sydney and Rose. It's okay if Adrian's gonna die too like Mason BUT it's definitely NOT okay if she kills Dimitri in this book. I would be soooo mad at her. I'm hoping this series will have a happy ending. I don't know if i can take it if Rose and Dimitri don't end up together. Somebody will pay for that!

The last book will be released in US and Australia (and Manila haha) on 14 December 2010. I'm literally counting the days starting May 18 :) I would love to have the last book released earlier than that but at the same time I don't want VA to end...

For now, i think fanfic stories will make me happy. :) Try it... might be worth reading them.

My thoughts:

Book 5 of the Vampire Academy Series

Let me say this first, Spirit Bound is the best coverart I've seen.

I loved the book so much that I had to put it down, think and analyze some things. I was reading it like the way I have read Blood Promise, the way Georgina would read Seth's books.

Although the book was amazing, Shadow Kiss is still my favorite in the series. Spirit Bound was full of surprises, action-packed and gave me too much emotions. I laughed, cried and fell in love with the characters once again. As always, i don't wanna give out spoilers but it's too hard with this book. I'm trying to make this spoiler-free so i'm gonna do my review this way.

The first few chapters made me think twice about pursuing Dimitri. I was torn between Dimitri and Adrian. Part of me longed for Dimitri but another part wanted to stay with Adrian. I'm sure before Spirit Bound I really wanted Rose to end up with Dimitri but in this book, i realized Adrian may also be the right one for Rose. I think i have never "heard" Adrian say "I love you" though but his attitude towards Rose and the whole "being an understanding boyfriend" thing made me think he might be good for Rose too.

The best part for me happened in page 285. Well i cried while in that page, I had to put down the book and take deep breaths. Another crying moment was in page 353-362. Something happened that i didn't expect. It was a very Dimitri thing to do and yet I didn't expect it could happen.

As for the ending, the usual - another cliff-hanger. If i didn't read Shadow-Kiss i would definitely be mad at Richelle. I almost died getting to the end of Shadow-Kiss but this one is lighter than that. BUT of course, i got that feeling again that Richelle is making me suffer... The last book will come out in December. The title of the sixth installment is Last Sacrifice, made me think it would make me cry once more. I just hope it would be a good one.

Do. Not. Kill. Dimitri. Please!

Distractions... i need another distractions. Uhm.. how about theories ... theories... theories... i think i need to read the whole series again especially Rhonda's reading in SB. A clue from the best author, thanks to Richelle Mead.

You are now officially my favorite of them all. :)

About the book:
"Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong… After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives beyond the Academy’s iron gates to begin. But Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri, and he's out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he's silenced her...forever." http://www.richellemead.com/

Author: Richelle Mead

My thoughts:

The book is about Rose's journey in Russia to find her mentor Dimitri who has been turned into a Strigoi (or dead immortal vampire) after the battle in Shadowkiss. Rose dropped out in St. Vladimir and left her best friend, Lissa for Dimitri. She is hoping to see Dimitri and kill him because she wanted him to be free of his current evil state. Her journey was funded by Adrian, the Queen's nephew. She promised Adrian if she finished her journey and killed Dimitri, she'll come home and give Adrian a chance. Did she kill Dimitri? No spoilers here :) Read the book and find out!

I loved and enjoyed this book. However I can't say that this is my favorite book in the series. I still think Shadowkiss is the best maybe because Dimitri has been turned into a Strigoi. I missed the old sweet tough Dimitri and I hope Victor's brother or Lissa/Adrian will bring Dimitri back to being a Dhampir.

The next book, Spirit Bound will be released in US in May 2010. 6 months to go! I can't wait!!

About the book:

"Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?" http://www.richellemead.com/

Well i have already read the last part (only) of it last month in an ebook format (can't wait eh!) so I know the ending already. And now I just started reading it page by page. Hey just saw this in Amazon, great!!! The 5th book will be released in US on 18 May 2010!! Seven months to go!!! Wohooo!!

Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong...

Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Book 1 - Vampire Academy
Book 2 - Frostbite
Book 3 - Shadow Kiss
Book 4 - Blood Promise (Aug 2009)
Book 5 - Spirit Bound (April 2010)
Book 6 - TBA

This is about friendship, maturity of a person, family, love and loyalty. The ending of Frostbite and Shadow Kiss made me cry. :(

The series is incredible, with non-stop action especially the third book. *BUT* i would recommend you to start reading the series close to August when the fourth book Blood Promise is released.

The ending in Shadow Kiss had me biting my nails and i am doing my very best not to think about it. I am trying to find some distractions because .... i just can't get over the ending!!! However, if you are already reading the series, DO NOT read the reviews as there are a lot of spoilers there. I wished i hadn't read the reviews first before reading this but of course that is impossible because i do not read books without reading reviews first hehehe So if you finished the last book, I recommend you visit Mead's website to help cure your addiction :)

There are 3 types of vampires in VA:

1. Moroi. They are born vampires, mortal. They drink blood but not enough to kill anyone.
2. Dhampirs. Half human and half vampire, guardian of Moroi who protects them from Strigoi. They do not need to drink blood as they are half human.
3. Strigoi. The undead vampire, powerful, immortal who kills Moroi as its blood will make them more powerful. There are two ways to become Strigoi, it's either a Moroi who killed from feeding or Moroi, Dhampirs, and humans who have been forcefully turned by exchanging blood.

Vampire Academy

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires--the ones who never die.

The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them.

After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi social scene. And both girls will resume breaking hearts.

Fear made Lissa and Rose run away from St. Vladimir's--but their world is fraught with danger both inside and out of the Academy's iron gates. Here, the cutthroat ranks of the Moroi perform unspeakable rituals and their secretive nature and love of the night creates an enigmatic world full of social complexities. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever...

Frostbite

Rose Hathaway's got serious guy trouble. Her gorgeous tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason has a huge crush on her, and she keeps getting stuck in her best friend Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian. (So not cool).

Then a massive Strigoi attack puts St. Vladimir's on high alert, and the Academy crawls with Guardians--including the legendary Janine Hathaway...Rose's formidable, long-absent mother. The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks. This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only provide the illusion of safety. When three students run away to strike back against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. Only this time, Rose--and her heart--are in more danger than she ever could have imagined...

Shadow Kiss

It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't been feeling quite right. She's having dark thoughts, behaving erratically, and worst of all...might be seeing ghosts. As Rose questions her sanity, new complications arise. Lissa has begun experimenting with her magic once more, their enemy Victor Dashkov might be set free, and Rose's forbidden relationship with Dimitri is starting to heat up again. But when a deadly threat no one saw coming changes their entire world, Rose must put her own life on the line--and choose between the two people she loves most.
