Guest Author: Sally Clements

It’s great to be here at Bookingly Yours, thanks so much for having me Jenai! I’m a newly published author, with three books out since my first which went on sale at the end of July 2010.

As a writer living and writing in Ireland, I decided with my first book, to write about the country that I know best and love.

Catch Me A Catch was inspired by the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival, that takes place every year in Ireland. Originally set up to help the farmers of the west of Ireland to meet women with a view to marriage, this lovely festival has expanded over the years to become an international event. People looking for love arrive in the village, meet the matchmaker (who has a booth in the local pub), and he finds them dates, which take place it seems 24 hours a day in dances in local establishments. My car broke down in Lisdoonvarna one year during the festival, and there was such a great time being had by everyone, that I found it really inspirational!
In Catch Me A Catch, my heroine, Annie Devine, is the daughter of the matchmaker who reluctantly has to step into her father’s shoes and act as matchmaker one festival when her father is ill. She’s an artisan chocolatier, intent of winning a competition that will win her the chance to rent her own chocolate shop in Dublin, and is reluctant to assume the role of matchmaker, mostly because she’s terrible at it! When Jack Miller, a transatlantic sailor is forced to make an emergency stop in Durna, a mix up leads her to believe he’s a lovelorn bachelor in need of a date, with hilarious results.
The book is set in the fictional village of Durna in the west of Ireland, but also has scenes in Dublin and Galway. It’s a contender for an award given by London’s Romantic Novelist’s Association in May, wish me luck!

My second book, Bound to Love, is a romantic suspense set in England and France. In this one, my heroine is master jeweller Tempest MacKenzie, who (as her name suggests) is impulsive in nature, and often finds herself in trouble because of it! After a successful meeting in the British Museum where she’s contracted to make replicas of some Egyptian gold for display in the Museum, she sees a gorgeous stranger being kidnapped. Without a thought to her own safety, she recklessly dives in to help, and finds herself kidnapped too! Jake Forrester is a security specialist who’s caught up in a plot to steal the Egyptian exhibition. He doesn’t want anyone’s help, but needs Tempest’s help to prevent the heist from going ahead.

My third book is a collection of three short stories, which I decided to self-publish to give readers a glimpse of my writing. It’s available for devices everywhere (including Kindle) for .99c.

What’s next for me? This week I’ve just sold a new book, Love On The Vine, so I’m just about to start into the editing process with that, and I have another book currently under consideration with a publisher. And I’m writing something new – but I’ve a far way to go!
It’s possible to download samples of all my books on Amazon – which is a good way to see if you like them!

Books are available from all the usual outlets (and Bound to Love is also available in paperback).

Hi everyone! It's sunny in Ireland today (pretty unusual) so I'm splitting my time between computer and garden - if anyone has any questions I'll be popping in and out!
