True Blood Season 3 (TV Series)

True Blood Season 3 was based on Charlaine Harris' Club Dead (Book 3 of the Sookie Stackhouse Series).
                               ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆

"There’s only one vampire Sookie Stackhouse is involved with (at least voluntarily) and that’s Bill. But recently he has been a little distant. Bill informs Sookie that he has to go somewhere on a top-secret mission for the queen of Louisiana (vampires have a strict territorial hierarchy) and promptly disappears.

Later, Sookie is informed by Eric, the charismatic head of the local vampire territory, that someone has kidnapped Bill in Mississippi and that his life may be in grave danger. Sookie also learns that her undead boyfriend was actually summoned by one of his ex-girlfriends, a vicious vampire named Lorena, who was hired to seduce, abduct, and torture Bill to obtain his top-secret information. Eric believes that Russell Edgington, the powerful king of Mississippi, has Bill somewhere on his sprawling compound. Sookie decides to do anything to rescue him." (http://sookiestackhouse.com)

Now that we have watched Seasons 1 and 2, it should now be clear to us that Allan Ball has created this TV series based on Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mystery novels but it loosely follows the plot of the books. This season, some new vampires and werewolves were introduced. Some other characters were also introduced which were not in book 3 like the Hotshot people and Crystal (Book 4 - Dead to the World), Claudine and Sookie being a half Fae (Book 8 - From Dead to Worse).

I have read a lot of reviews for this TV series especially for season 3. Some loved True Blood but a lot of other reviewers hated the TV series. They hated the TV series because they loved the books so much that they want True Blood to be TRUE to the books. But for me, I have a different opinion on this one. I think True Blood is great especially the 3rd Season. Yes it's not the same as in the books but that makes the TV series interesting to watch. It's like having two different stories but with the same characters. And I also love the fact that Allan Ball created stories for each of the characters so it's not just centered on Sookie's life.

Honestly, there were times that I want to throw the book out of our window because Sookie sometimes irritates me, her life is really boring without the vampires and other supernatural creatures.

I love the new characters, especially Alcide and Crystal. Ball made a good story of Crystal's life when she met Jason. The difference was Crystal seemed in love with Jason in True Blood but in the book, she's not really sure of her feelings with Jason and that she had an affair with another man.

Well, I also love the Queen, Talbot (the best sream) and of course the King! He may be considered now as one of the TV's best villains.

So for Bill, Eric and Sookie, the story was unsurprising. What happened in season 3 was what happened in the book so I'm okay with it. Oh, btw, i think I'm in love with Jason Stackhouse. He truly makes me laugh and  I always look forward to watching scenes with Jason on it! I love Ryan Kwanten, he's perfect in portraying Jason Stackhouse!

So, needless to say (again!) I love the show! More more! Can't wait for season 4!

Only just up to series 2 here in England, I have to admit that I much prefer the books to the tv series. Far less gory and with a lot less sex, I find the books much more humorous which I like.

I've never read the books, so I only appreciate the TV series True Blood for itself. And comparing Season 3 to the previous seasons, this is the weakest one so far for me. Just seemed like too many things were happening.

For me, this season was saved by the amazing performance of the actor who played the Vampire King (can't recall his name) - he was a great villain and actually a lot of fun. I hope he returns next Season to create more mayhem :)
